Danish couple Lise and Torben Nielsen spend most of the year in a caravan they bought in 2000 and upgraded for 150,000 Danish kroner (about 20,000 euros). They installed an IKEA kitchen and a terrace, making their home more like a summer house.
The couple lives at Sandersvig Camping between Haderslev and Christiansfeld in southern Denmark. In 2024, motorhome bookings rose by 32%, and Denmark recorded about 12 million camping overnight stays. Last year, the South Denmark region led the country in camping overnight stays.
