Following the death of a tourist at the Dubare elephant camp, Karnataka's Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre ordered stricter safety measures in wildlife safari zones and elephant camps. Open safari camper vehicles will be phased out in favor of fully secured safari buses; existing campers must be fitted with iron mesh or shatterproof glass. The rules apply to Bandipur, Nagarhole, Kali Tiger Reserve, Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, and other protected areas. Tourists are prohibited from leaving vehicles, and first-aid kits and ambulances are required at safari centers.
