Spain's Interior Ministry has clarified that sleeping inside a parked caravan, motorhome or campervan does not constitute illegal camping, provided the vehicle is properly parked and does not extend beyond its footprint. Recent amendments to the General Traffic Regulations allow motorhomes to park in cities under the same conditions as other vehicles. Violations can result in fines of between 2,000 and 3,000 euros. Deploying awnings, furniture or stabilising legs outside the vehicle is classified as camping and is only permitted in designated areas.
