In Brief

From July 1, 2026, campers in the Netherlands are exempt from the truck toll, but owners must register their plate to avoid fines.

From July 1, 2026, the Netherlands has introduced a kilometer-based toll for trucks over 3.5 tonnes. Campers with class M1 or code SA in the registration document are exempt, but the license plate recognition system may mistakenly classify them as toll-paying trucks. To avoid a fine, camper owners are advised to register their plate at vrachtwagenheffing.nl/de.

A separate toll applies on the A24 near Rotterdam for all vehicles. The measure aims to simplify travel and remove uncertainty for camper owners.
