Starting July 1, 2026, the Netherlands introduces a distance-based toll for trucks, but motorhomes, including those over 3.5 tons, are exempt. The system automatically distinguishes commercial vehicles.
Dutch authorities have confirmed that motorhomes will not be subject to the new road toll for freight transport, which takes effect on July 1, 2026. The distance-based toll system automatically identifies commercial trucks, so motorhome owners need no registration or additional equipment.
The exemption applies to models with a permissible mass over 3.5 tons as well. However, on the A24 toll motorway, and soon on a new road near Arnhem, tolls are charged for all vehicles.
