In 2025, Europe recorded 413 million overnight stays in campsites and motorhome areas, up 28.5% from 2015. Spain saw an 8.96% increase in new motorhome registrations compared to 2025. Greece, after tightening rules in May 2025, clarified that parking a motorhome without deploying external equipment (awnings, tables, chairs) is not considered illegal camping. France leads the EU with 154 million camping overnight stays (37.2% of the EU total). Austria reported a fifth consecutive record year in 2025 with 8.8 million overnight stays, generating over €500 million in economic impact.
