Audit request
A civic coalition in Seongnam has filed a request with the Board of Audit and Inspection for a public audit regarding the creation and operation of an auto-camping site in Yuldong Park in the Bundang area.
Alleged violations
According to sources, since 2023 city authorities ignored or circumvented legal norms: changed the name from "camping zone" to "camping site," did not register the facility under the Tourism Promotion Act, and exceeded the area limit. The site area was increased from 8,941 sq. m to 26,734 sq. m, exceeding the legal limit of 10,000 sq. m; the campsite has 96 spots. The legality of a dog park not included in the plan is also questioned.
Positions
Gyeonggi Province police are investigating city officials on suspicion of illegal operation. The city hall insists the facility falls under urban park and land use laws, not tourism legislation.
