Lightship, founded in 2020, is expanding its Broomfield production facility from 32,000 to 76,000 square feet. The move is intended to increase annual output of its fully electric caravan from 80 to roughly 500 units. The AE.1 trailer features a 77 kWh battery, solar panels, and the TrekDrive system, which reduces strain on the towing vehicle via a battery and motor on the rear axle.
The company began commercial production of its fully electric caravan in 2025. Lightship uses about 80% American-made components and recently raised $26.6 million in funding. The expansion aims to shorten long waitlists.
