Motorhomes with Fiat and Iveco diesel engines caught in emissions scandal

According to the Pincamp (ADAC) 2026 analysis, Germany offers the most affordable five-star campsites in Europe, with an average cost of 57 euros per night. For comparison, the average price in Spain is 98 euros, and in Croatia it is 95 euros. The average price for a family of three in the high season in Germany is 41 euros per night, which is below the average for the 12 countries studied (49 euros).

Mettmann police held a free weighing campaign for motorhomes and caravans on March 14, 2026. Out of 86 vehicles checked, only two were slightly overloaded, and their owners received advice on weight distribution. The campaign was preventive, and no fines were issued for overloading.

German manufacturer Rocket Camper has introduced the simplified camper van Rocket Base. The 6-meter model based on the Peugeot Boxer chassis lacks a fixed bathroom and overhead cabinets, increasing usable space. The base price starts at 68,000 euros, with heating and additional sleeping berths available as options.
