Volkswagen has introduced the updated fifth generation of the Caddy, including the California camper version. The model features a restyling, hybrid powertrains with an electric range of up to 122 km, and a modular interior. Production takes place at the plant in Poznań, Poland.

A collision between a motorhome and a truck resulted in the complete closure of the B 31 federal highway near Falkensteig. The accident occurred on April 9 when a 71-year-old motorhome driver crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck. Both drivers and a female passenger in the motorhome were uninjured, but the damage is estimated at over €15,000. Traffic was halted for accident investigation and vehicle recovery.

Temporary parking rules for motorhomes have been implemented in Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle until December 31, 2026. Parking is now permitted at Moselvorgelände and partially at Nikolausufer, but overnight stays from 10 PM to 6 AM are prohibited. The changes follow complaints from tourists about the lack of legal parking spaces in the city.

In Chemnitz, designated city parking spaces for motorhomes allow parking only, not overnight stays, which contradicts the original goal of attracting tourists. CDU/FDP criticize the solution as "half-baked," citing a lack of spaces for multi-day stays and conflict with car parking. An alternative site near the ice sports complex is considered preferable, while the proposed free space at Augustusburger Straße raises concerns due to its location between a railway line and a major road.

The Nahemühle campsite in the Hunsrück region accepts motorhomes, caravans, and tents. The pitch price in high season is €11.90, plus €7.20 per adult and €5.20 per child. The site is located outside the town by a river, features a guarded area, includes water and waste disposal, while electricity costs €0.80 per kWh.

An ACSI survey of 6,800 caravan owners in Germany and the Netherlands revealed that 76% in Germany use diesel vehicles for towing. The main reasons for the low share of electric vehicles (1.5%) are limited range with a trailer, high costs, and unprepared charging infrastructure.
