According to the Caravaning Industrie Verband (CIVD), new registrations of motorhomes and caravans in Germany fell by about three percent year-on-year in the first seven months of 2026, to 63,329 units. Last year, the decline was 2.3%. The drop is attributed to a weak economy, high prices, and unsold inventories built up during the pandemic.
Motorhome registrations fell 3.3% to 50,118, while caravan registrations declined 1.9% to 13,211. The association notes that interest in caravanning remains high, and the decline is explained by the high reliability of vehicles. Over the past ten years, the number of motorhomes and caravans in the country has doubled to nearly 1.8 million.
