DIE WELT DEU

Motorhome and caravan manufacturers are expanding their offerings with larger batteries, tanks and solar panels, targeting customers who want to stay off-grid longer. According to the Caravaning Industrie Verband (CIVD), a growing clientele prefers farm or winery stops over campsites. Example: the Hymerⓘ B-ML costs from €178,000, has roughly double the gas capacity, a 200-litre fresh water tank and an optimised toilet system that allows a family of four to change water every six to seven days instead of two. Hobby offers an Autarkpaket with monitoring via HobbyConnect. Despite rising prices, high dealer inventories make bargains possible; many caravans cost from €50,000, motorhomes from €100,000, and some luxury models exceed €1 million.
