IMTEST tested five camper vans between 5.40 and 6 metres long over several days at the Land campsite in Stove, northern Germany. The assessment covered base equipment and connectivity, driving behaviour and safety, and the living and sleeping areas. The models were the Forster Livin' Up V 599 VBL, Hymer Free 600, Sunlight Cliff 540 RT Adventure Edition, Volkswagen Grand California 600 and Weinsberg CaraTour 600 ME. Manufacturers have to fit a shower, toilet, kitchen and sleeping space for up to four people into a smaller footprint. Prices for new camper vans start at around 45,000 euros, and well-equipped models such as the VW California 6.1 can reach 100,000 euros.

Hymer held a Learning Xperience session on 3 November 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz Offroad Driving Events site in Maselheim, Germany. The 35,000 m² course features slopes, holes, rocks and water obstacles. Five 4x4 models based on the Mercedes Sprinter took part: two camper vans, the Grand Canyon S 600 and Grand Canyon S 600 Crossover, and three coachbuilt models, the Venture S, ML-T 570 Crossover and ML-T 580 Crosstrail. The combined value of the vehicles approaches one million euros. Participants practised hill climbs and descents, including the DSR system that limits downhill speed to 4 km/h without driver braking. No vehicle got stuck or was damaged during the day.

Etrusco, a brand of the Hymer Group, has announced its motorhome and camper van line-up for the 2027 season. Two models join the range: the narrow coachbuilt V 6.8 SF on a 130 hp Ford Transit chassis, 6.83 m long with twin beds, and the CV 640 PB+ camper van on Fiat Ducato with an electric lift-up rear bed and a large load area. Prices start at €60,499 for the V 6.8 SF and €60,999 for the CV 640 PB+. The T Base and T coachbuilts gain lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, drowsiness alert and adaptive cruise control. The 2027 catalogue covers CV and CV+ camper vans, Vans narrow coachbuilts, T Base and T coachbuilts, A overcab models and I integrated models.

The Hymer Free 600 is a 2023 model year camper van based on the Fiat Ducato 8 with a 103 kW (140 hp) engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. The test vehicle was priced at 78,840 euros. It measures 599 cm long, 208 cm wide and 289 cm high, with four seats and four berths. The review notes high-quality interior build, easy controls and good lighting, but few built-in sockets and USB ports and no roof hatches. The manufacturer Erwin Hymer Group is a subsidiary of Thor Industries.

Hymer brand Corigon has revised its semi-integrated TS 70 S motorhome for the 2027 model year, making it suitable for families. The width remains 2.14 metres, the length grows to 6.83 metres and the new T-shaped roof raises the exterior height by 15 centimetres to 2.87 metres. An electrically lowerable bed above the seating area (1.88 by 0.98 metres) adds two berths to the two rear single beds, which can be combined. The base price is 59,499 euros, around 1,500 euros more than its predecessor; the optional bed costs 1,799 euros, and the test vehicle with automatic transmission was priced at 76,792 euros.

From 28 to 31 October, Auto Camping-Car Service in Bretteville-sur-Odon is hosting an event featuring a selection of LMC, Hymer, Eura Mobil and Carado motorhomes offered at their cost price. Visitors can inspect the interiors and choose a model. The event also includes 2027 models and conditions from the VDL Paris-Le Bourget show. A food truck serves savoury and sweet crêpes daily.

Hymer has introduced the ML-T 570 Crossover 4×4 motorhome built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform. The model measures 6.74 metres long, 2.22 metres wide and 2.92 metres high, with a wheelbase of 3.67 metres. The layout includes two longitudinal single beds, a kitchen with a fridge, a bathroom and a garage, and interior height is 1.98 metres. Water capacity is 120 litres fresh and 100 litres waste, and a 6 kW diesel heater is fitted. According to the manufacturer, the 4×4 version can operate for up to 10 days without external supplies. The base model starts at €117,490, while Caravanas Sangar lists the 4×4 version at €167,850.

Hymer has updated its Yellowstone camper van range based on the Fiat Ducato. The vehicle measures 5.41 m long, 2.08 m wide and 2.60 m high, offers up to four berths, a 110-litre fresh water tank and a winter package with insulated tanks. The Xperience trim includes a 140 hp engine, an 8-speed automatic gearbox, a 6 kW diesel heater and the Hymer Connect system. Prices start at €76,990.

A 1983 Hymer S660 motorhome on a Mercedes-Benz 310 T1 chassis is for sale in California. The 21-foot vehicle has a 2.3-liter gasoline engine producing 94 horsepower and a five-speed manual transmission. Its electrical system has been converted to 120 volts for compatibility with U.S. campsites. The asking price is $24,000.

Demand for extended off-grid travel has led to higher prices for motorhomes and caravans. Manufacturers such as Hymer and Hobby offer larger batteries, tanks and management systems, increasing vehicle costs. The Hymer B-ML starts at around 178,000 euros, while some luxury motorhomes exceed 1 million euros. Due to high dealer inventories, the industry association CIVD sees opportunities for bargains.

The 400th issue of Camping-Car Magazine has been published. The publication, dedicated to motorhomes, dates back to May 1978, when it launched as Le Van et le Camping-Car and was renamed Camping-Car after 42 issues. Aguti is recalling Isofix child seat mounts due to potentially faulty welds. The recall affects seats in campervans and motorhomes from various manufacturers, including Knaus and Hymer. Owners are advised not to use the Isofix mounts until inspected.

The EarthRoamer LTi, built on a Ford F-550 Super Duty chassis, features a carbon-fiber body, 4,546 liters of water capacity, 432 liters of fuel, solar panels producing up to 1,320 W per hour, and an 11,000 Wh battery; the waiting list is almost a year. The Bowlus Road Chief Wave travel trailer, 7.92 meters long, offers four berths, a shower, and a galley, with energy systems controlled via smartphone. HYMER has introduced the ML-T 580 4×4 2022 model, a four-wheel-drive motorhome based on the Mercedes Sprinter 414 CDI chassis with a 2143 cc diesel engine producing 143 hp. Maximum permissible mass is 3500 kg, payload 590 kg. Dimensions: length nearly 7 metres, width 2220 mm, height 2900 mm. The interior accommodates two adults and one additional passenger, with two single beds (1900×800 and 1840×800 mm) and a front additional bed (175×79 cm). Fresh water tank holds 120 litres, waste water 100 litres, both insulated and heated as part of the winter package. A 142-litre refrigerator, three gas burners, and a separate shower cabin are included. Safety features comprise ABS, ASR, EBD, ESP, crosswind and hill-start assist, and airbags. The rear platform supports up to 350 kg (optionally up to 450 kg). Thermal insulation uses 35 mm sandwich panels and 46 mm floors.

Promobil examined which motorhomes can be considered the "Mercedes" of campers. Since 2026, Mercedes-Benz has built the Marco Polo camper van in-house on a V-Class base; assembly takes place in Ludwigsfelde, with prices starting at €69,000 for the Horizon and €78,000 for the version with a kitchen. The French leisure vehicle show celebrates its 60th anniversary. More than a hundred brands of campervans, motorhomes and caravans are exhibiting. Nearly 33,500 leisure vehicles were sold in France last year, a stable figure after the post-pandemic boom faded. Hymer displays the Grand Canyon S with over a week of off-grid autonomy, while Westfalia shows the Columbus Liner with a dry toilet and a terrace above the cab for an extra €10,000. Many off-road models exceed 3.5 tonnes and require a category C licence. The cheapest model is the Cvan Switch from €46,900. The Concorde Centurion costs €890,000, and the Air Truck Kodiak is priced at €996,000.
