Alloy wheels, often assumed to be lighter than steel, can actually be heavier on caravans. Manufacturers typically increase wheel diameter by 1-3 inches, adding weight. For instance, upgrading a Knaus Sport from 14-inch steel to 17-inch alloy wheels adds 21 kg. On Fendt Apero and Bianco, alloy wheels add no weight but cost €789.
