Volkswagen presented an updated version of its flagship camper Grand California, based on the Crafter. The model now features lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries with a usable capacity of 64 Ah — nearly 40% more than the standard 92 Ah AGM battery (46 Ah). The lithium batteries last up to five times longer, are protected against deep discharge, and can handle charging currents up to 200 A.
The optional Off-grid package includes solar panels rated at 104 W (600 version) or 174 W (680 version). In ECO mode, the system prioritises solar charging, and the panels work while driving. The batteries alone cost 833 euros; the full Off-grid package ranges from 1719.55 euros (600 version) to 2326.45 euros (680 version).
Standard equipment now includes a driver fatigue warning system, with an optional intersection assistant. The infotainment system features a display up to 12 inches. The interior is refreshed with Atami Bamboo decorative panels and a multifunctional table. The camper is available in two versions: Grand California 600 (transverse bed) and Grand California 680 (longitudinal bed).
