Grand California 2027
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has presented the update of the Grand California for the 2027 model year. The key innovation is the Off-grid package, which includes solar panels (104 W for the 600 version and 174 W for the 680) and two LiFePO₄ lithium batteries of 40 Ah each. Usable capacity increases by about 40% — from 46 to 64 Ah (according to one source, the standard AGM battery has 92 Ah). The new batteries withstand roughly five times more charge-discharge cycles than AGM and are protected against deep discharge.
Prices in Germany: replacing AGM with LiFePO₄ — from €833, the full Off-grid package — from €1,719.55 for the Grand California 600 and from €2,326.45 for the Grand California 680. Driver assistance systems have also been added (fatigue monitor becomes standard, intersection assist is optionally available), new multimedia with screens up to 12 inches, and an interior in Atami Bamboo trim.
California Ocean Generation
Volkswagen has also released a special Generation version of the California Ocean. Price in Germany — from €91,309. The version features a two-tone body, new upholstery, a projector with the California logo, and an electric tailgate. According to one source, headlights have been redesigned and 18-inch diamond-cut wheels are fitted. Engine lineup: 2.0 TDI diesel (150 hp), 2.0 petrol (204 hp), or plug-in hybrid (245 hp, electric range up to 95 km). The entire California range receives new options, including electric tailgate and improved climate control.
