German company Sealander has presented an amphibious trailer that can be used as a camper and as a boat. The design includes a fiberglass hull, galvanized chassis, and sealed hubs. The trailer weighs 600–700 kg and can be towed without a special license.
For water travel, an outboard motor is required: according to one source, 6 hp, according to another, 10 hp. The motor is purchased separately. The trailer can handle waves up to 30 cm. The base price is 38,000 euros, while another source says from 39,750 euros, and with options it can exceed 40,000 euros.
Inventor Daniel Straub presented the Sealander in 2015, and it is still sold today. The manufacturer claims the trailer meets all safety standards both on land and on water. The caravan features a monocoque fiberglass hull, is rated for a weight of up to 750 kg, and can be used on rivers and lakes with waves up to 30 cm. In some countries, including France, no special permit is required for water operation.
According to a French publication, the model was first presented in 2011 at a show in Düsseldorf. On water, the caravan can reach speeds of up to 5 knots (about 10 km/h) with a 5 hp motor, while the maximum engine power is 10 hp. Inside, there is a sleeping area measuring 151 x 205 cm and space for six people. Used units cost around 15,000 euros.
