Eurostat reports 413 million nights in EU campsites and motorhome areas in 2025. France leads, Italy ranks third.
In 2025, campsites, motorhome areas and caravan parks in the European Union recorded 413 million overnight stays, according to Eurostat. France remains the market leader with 154 million nights, followed by Spain (49.8 million) and Italy (49.1 million).
The open-air sector grew by 28.5% since 2015, outpacing hotels (23.4%), and accounts for 13.4% of all EU overnight stays. However, 67% of nights occurred in the summer months (June–August), highlighting a strong seasonality.
