German company Rhön Camp has introduced The New Ultimate camper based on the Volkswagen Transporter, featuring an inflatable side roof instead of a traditional pop-top. The inflatable structure deploys sideways in 6-8 minutes, creating a sleeping area of 1.4×2 m above the door and maintaining a constant interior height of 2.3 m. The camper, under 2.1 m tall when folded, uses a fully electric system with a 240 Ah battery and operates without gas.

At the same time, the camper and motorhome market is seeing growing demand for pop-top models that combine compact dimensions while driving with extra space when parked. These vehicles have a lower folded height, reducing fuel consumption and improving handling, while raising the roof provides an extra bed and increased interior height.

Featured pop-top models

  • Volkswagen California T7 — from €58,000
  • Hymer Grand Canyon S CrossOver — around €140,400
  • Westfalia Sven Hedin — from €96,000
  • Bürstner Habiton HM 6.0 — around €91,000
  • Knaus BoxTime 600 MQ — from €66,990

Each model targets different needs, from daily use to off-road travel.
