Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti filed a lawsuit in Davidson County Chancery Court over improper sewage disposal next to Kentucky Lake. The complaint alleges that an RV at Beaver Dam Campsite has lacked a functioning sewage disposal system for over four years. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has known about the issue since Sept. 21, 2022, and sent letters to the RV's previous owner, who died in 2019; regulators stopped trying to reach him in 2025 upon learning of his death. A December 2025 inspection found active sewage surfacing and draining across a road. The lawsuit names a deceased man's estate, an executor, and Beaverdam Restaurant & Rockin' Marina as responsible for maintaining the site; the state seeks equitable relief and an injunction to bring the subsurface sewage disposal system into compliance.
