On the morning of June 20, a truck and a camper collided on the A1 motorway in the Modena area. According to sources, the accident occurred around 4:45–5:00 a.m. at kilometer 160, between the Modena Sud and Modena Nord junctions, in the direction of Milan.
Six people were injured, including a mother and her child. Some sources say the child is seven months old, others describe him as a newborn. The infant was taken in serious condition to the Maggiore hospital in Bologna. The injured also include the truck driver and a family from the camper.
Firefighters from Modena and Vignola extracted the victims from the damaged vehicles and secured the area. The motorway section was temporarily closed for the landing of an air ambulance helicopter; traffic resumed by 8 a.m. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the highway police.
