Motorhome overturns on A8 after tire blowout

German manufacturer Westfalia, known for converting Volkswagen Combis since 1952, has unveiled the new Nansen model. The camper van is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis and will be produced in France, at the Niort plant (Rapido group). Two versions are available: the 600 L (5.99 m, family-oriented) and the 640 LS (6.46 m, for couples). Prices start at €70,500. Standard equipment includes a full bathroom, 95 L fresh water tank, and 90 L fridge. Options include additional batteries, an awning, and 160 W solar panels. Sales begin in January.

A DEKRA branch manager from Halle advised owners to thoroughly inspect motorhomes and caravans after winter storage. Key areas include brakes, tires, electrical systems, and gas installations. Since June 19, 2025, gas system checks are mandatory every two years. Inexperienced drivers are encouraged to attend a safety driving course.

Brompton has introduced the G-Line, its first folding bike with 20-inch wheels and disc brakes, aimed at campers and commuters. The bike features a Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub gear, a steel frame, and folds into a compact package on four rollers. It is available in three sizes (S, M, L) starting at €2,695.

Two fires occurred on the same property in Barby (Saxony-Anhalt) on Birkenweg. On the night of May 28, a motorhome, a trailer and a motorcycle were destroyed; earlier, on Pentecost Sunday, a garage was completely burned down. Police suspect arson and are investigating.

Camping Bankenhof in Hinterzarten (Baden-Württemberg) is closed after a fire destroyed the main building with administration, sanitary facilities and apartments. Damage is at least €1 million. Guests have raised over €12,000 on GoFundMe. Cause and reopening date are unknown.

At the Rätzsee campsite in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, overnight stays have tripled over the past ten years. Operators report an increasing number of young visitors. Germany currently has about 35,000 members of FKK clubs, with numbers rising again after a decline in 2018.
