Man says MTO towed his RV without cause

The Agricultural Land Commission fined a Lake Country couple $60,000 for operating an RV park on farmland without permission. The owners, Tate and Salena Lamb, were first warned in 2019 but continued renting spots until 2026. The commission estimated they earned at least $72,000 from rentals after the 2023 shutdown order, and they also owe nearly $24,000 in bylaw fines. They had until early July to pay or appeal.

Campers at Bear Creek Provincial Park continued enjoying their stay, unaware of the Quilpituk Creek wildfire just 6 km away. The fire, discovered Aug. 1, has burned 1,139 hectares and forced evacuation of 2,648 properties, with 321 more under threat.

A camper in Banff National Park, Canada, has been charged with two offences under the National Parks General Regulations and Camping Regulations after leaving food outside a tent in a bag marketed as bear-resistant. The incident occurred on August 4 at Rampart Creek Campground, where a bear took the food and later contacted the tent. A bear warning is in effect for the area, and multiple black bears have been sighted. Elsewhere in Banff, campgrounds near Lake Minnewanka were evacuated due to bears repeatedly ripping tents.

The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada is hosting a webinar aimed at helping RV dealerships improve their parts departments. The sites are zoned as campgrounds, limiting stays to 30 days, but residents, some living there for a decade, argue their rights are protected under the Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act. The district cites safety concerns, including unpermitted structures and fire risks, while a legal advocate calls the demands excessive and urges lot-by-lot assessments.
