On the evening of May 16, 2026, a motorhome burned out completely on Dortmund Landstrasse in Herdecke, Germany. Firefighters were alerted at 22:27 and arrived around 22:30, but the vehicle was already fully engulfed in flames.
During firefighting, a propane cylinder released gas, causing a powerful flash and intense heat. One source says the cylinder had already vented and was cooled, another mentions a valve failure. A nearby trailer was towed away, and a tree caught fire due to the heat, but firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other vehicles.
The motorhome was destroyed to the ground. No injuries were reported. Police and criminal police are investigating the cause.
