Buchholz in der Nordheide has opened its first motorhome stopover, with six newly paved pitches on a green space near the NordHeideHalle on Holzweg. The site cost €195,000, of which €96,000 was funded through the EU LEADER programme via Regionalpark Rosengarten. A 24-hour stay costs €15, electricity is 80 cents per kilowatt-hour and water is 10 cents for 10 litres; grey water and chemical toilet disposal are free. Payment methods vary: the parking ticket machine accepts an app and debit cards but not cash, the electricity column takes coins or the app, and the water column accepts cash only.
