Carabinieri arrived within 2 minutes and arrested the suspect. At Monday's hearing, the judge replaced custody with an obligation to report to police, setting the trial for October 5. That same night on Viale del Tirreno, a 40-year-old man was arrested; about 2 grams of cocaine were found on him.
Brescia
On July 3 in Brescia, police arrested a 40-year-old Latvian citizen with no fixed abode while attempting to steal a motorhome on Via Filippo Brunelleschi. The suspect, together with an accomplice, forced the door and tried to start the engine with a screwdriver. He tried to flee across fields but was blocked. Burglary tools and gloves were seized. The accomplice fled and is being sought. The suspect was charged with aggravated attempted theft and banned from returning to Brescia for 4 years.
Turin
On the night of June 11 in the Aurora district of Turin, police arrested a 40-year-old Romanian citizen suspected of attempting to steal a motorhome belonging to a Dutch tourist couple. The suspect broke a rear side window, cut the bike rack straps and stole a mountain bike, backpack and personal items. Lock picks, a glass-breaking hammer, screwdrivers, women's jewelry and a medical card were found on him. The stolen bike was recovered nearby and returned. He was charged with aggravated attempted theft, receiving stolen goods and unlawful possession of lock picks.
Treviso
In Castelfranco (Treviso province), the Financial Guard arrested a Moroccan citizen who ran a 24/7 drug sales operation from a camper parked near a supermarket. Seized: 27 grams of cocaine, 56 grams of hashish, electronic scales and 8,750 euros in cash. The suspect, with prior drug convictions, was jailed; a buyer was fined. Deportation proceedings have begun.
Val d'Orcia
On July 10, Carabinieri arrested two young people for thefts from parked cars in Val d'Orcia. Stolen goods and lock picks were found in a camper stopped near Bagno Vignoni. A third suspect was released on bail.
