In Brief

In Livorno, a suspicious camper near a shopping center yielded a large sum of cash and jewelry linked to thefts in Pisa province. Earlier in Florence, a couple was arrested after a chase for attempting to steal from a camper on Via Pistoiese.

Livorno: camper with stolen goods

On June 25, 2026, Livorno police, acting on a tip, found a suspicious camper near the "Le fonti del corallo" shopping center. A search revealed a large amount of cash (including foreign currency) and numerous jewelry items. The three women inside could not explain the origin of the valuables. Part of the seized items was linked to a series of thefts previously reported in Pisa province. One woman was charged with receiving stolen goods.

Florence: chase and arrest

On the night of May 1, 2026, in Florence on Via Pistoiese, two Bulgarian nationals—a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman—attempted to steal items from a parked camper by damaging a window. A witness from a balcony alerted police. The suspects fled on a scooter, driving against traffic, but were caught. Officers seized burglary tools and stolen clothing; the scooter turned out to be stolen with altered license plates. Both have prior convictions and were brought before a court in expedited proceedings.
