On Monday afternoon in Dielheim (Rhein-Neckar district), an 80-year-old property owner was using a gas torch to remove weeds. The flames spread to accumulated trash and then to a parked motorhome. The fire completely destroyed the vehicle and damaged neighboring residential buildings.
Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the houses, but the buildings sustained heat damage. Several residents were evacuated. One firefighter suffered minor smoke inhalation. Preliminary damage is estimated at 50,000 euros.
