In the night of 10 June 2026, a caravan belonging to the organizers of the summer fair, which runs in the city center until 14 June, burned down on the Platvoet event site in Deventer. The fire was discovered around 01:24–01:30, and extinguishing was futile.
Several people uncoupled the burning trailer and pushed it off the site to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring caravans and vehicles. Firefighters confirmed that these actions prevented a larger blaze.
No injuries were reported. Preliminary indications point to a technical failure (possibly electronics or an appliance inside); police do not suspect arson. However, one source states that the cause has not yet been established.
