Caravan burns out in Rijsbergen

Dutch company Ventje has unveiled the T7 camper van based on the new Volkswagen Transporter. The model features a modular interior with seats that fold completely into the floor, allowing the vehicle to serve as both a family van and a camper. Powertrain options include diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric. Prices start at €95,000.

Dethleffs has launched the Summer Edition caravan series, available in seven layouts. The starting price is €28,990. Models include a 137-liter refrigerator, air conditioning preparation, and Tempo 100 certification for towing at up to 100 km/h in Germany. Maximum permissible mass ranges from 1,700 kg to 2,000 kg depending on the model.

On the N9 ring road near Alkmaar (Netherlands), a camper van rear-ended a passenger car. Initial reports indicate the camper driver failed to notice the vehicle ahead. Three people were injured: a child from the camper and two women from the car. All were taken to hospital; the severity of injuries is unknown. Traffic towards Den Helder was disrupted. From July 1, 2026, the Netherlands introduces a kilometer charge for trucks (categories N2 and N3) on most highways and some other roads. In Rijsbergen, Netherlands, on Thursday afternoon, a burning caravan drove past restaurant Flore. Owner Lars de Bruijn grabbed a fire extinguisher, smashed a window, and attempted to put out the fire, but the caravan was completely destroyed. The driver detached the trailer and drove the car away; no injuries were reported.

Last night, Breskens firefighters carried out measurements in a caravan after a carbon monoxide alarm activated. The call came in around 01:05 without urgency. After opening the caravan, they checked for CO and gas levels; the meter showed no elevated readings.
