On the evening of July 20, 2026, a caravan caught fire in the Schönstein forest near Wissen. The fire completely destroyed the caravan and damaged shrubs and trees over an area of 30–40 square meters. About 40 firefighters extinguished the blaze; no injuries were reported. Damage and cause are under investigation.
Earlier, on July 7, between five and seven caravans burned at a campsite in Eschenbach (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district, Upper Palatinate). Firefighters put out the fire early in the morning. No information on injuries, damage, or cause is available yet.
