The city of Hwaseong plans to close the Hwannam auto camping site, opened in 2018, and build a training base there for Hwaseong FC, a K League club. The 43-pitch campsite drew tens of thousands of visitors annually but ran an operating deficit of more than 300 million won per year. Alternative sites proposed in Sosin-myeon and Gungpyeong are about 40 km from Hwannam; a quarry site in Yanggam, about 13 km away, is under review. No timeline for a replacement has been set.
