TV presenter Poongja has posted an honest review of the camper van she has used for three months on her YouTube channel. She said she has no regrets about buying it, but that it has many drawbacks to match its strengths.
Main complaints
- The charging port sits at the front of the bonnet, so in tight charging bays she has to drive in nose first, which she finds hard to judge.
- On rough roads and speed bumps the vehicle bounces and feels unstable. On slopes the underside scrapes, and she has already slightly scratched the bottom of the vehicle. Other PV5 owners report the same.
- The interior is an empty shell: it gets very hot in summer and very cold in winter, so insulation is essential. Insulation, windows, a table and lighting can add several million won, up to about 10m won.
- Cooking inside is difficult because the smell lingers. The narrow interior leaves little room to move, and only two people including the driver can travel in it.
Poongja said the price is a big attraction: with discounts and subsidies the PV5 can drop to the low 20m won range. Even so, she said, it cannot be used as a camper without conversion work. PV5 camper vans are sold for 40m to 50m won.
