In Brief

Choi Eun-hee proposed creating a campsite at the Soksan site in Taeyang or in Yanggam-myeon after the Hyangnam auto campsite closed on October 1.

Closure and proposal

Hwaseong parliament member Choi Eun-hee (Democratic Party) opposed the closure of the Hyangnam auto campsite on October 1 and proposed creating a new campsite. According to source 1, the site was Soksan in Taeyang; according to source 2, it was in Yanggam-myeon, 13 km from Hyangnam. New data shows public hearings lasted 20 days, and alternative sites in Sosin-myeon and Gunpyeong are 40 km from Hyangnam.

Financials

The campsite opened in 2018 for 3.6 billion won, had 43 spaces and received over 50,000 visitors annually. With annual revenue of 200 million won and expenses of 500 million won, the stated annual deficit is 300 million won. Choi claims 76% of expenses were labor costs, and without them operating profit would be about 80 million won.
