Arla buys campsite to secure future expansion in North Jutland

A motorhome has broken down on the Øresund Bridge, blocking one lane. Speed has been reduced on the section. The incident occurred on Sunday, according to the Danish Road Directorate.

Denmark is among the European countries best suited for combining motorhome travel with cycling. The country has over 12,000 km of marked cycling routes, with many campsites and motorhome stops located near these trails. Short distances, flat terrain, and developed infrastructure allow using the stop as a base for day trips. Notable routes include the Baltic Sea coast, the island of Funen, the west coast of Jutland, and Copenhagen's cycling infrastructure.

For World Bicycle Day, a selection of ten accessories for cyclists has been presented. Among them is the folding mini-caravan Wide Path Camper, designed and produced in Denmark, weighing about 45 kg and towable by a standard bicycle. When folded, it is compact; in three minutes it transforms into a sleeping area for two and a dining space for four.

The Knudsen family has operated Gammelbro Camping in Aarøsund near Haderslev for 63 years. Now, 32-year-old Jacob Knudsen has become co-owner and daily manager. The campsite, located on the Little Belt strait, was named Denmark's best for the second time (previously in 2019). Jacob Knudsen plans to develop the site while respecting its history.

On Wednesday afternoon, police and fire services responded to a fire in a caravan at a campsite on Gundestedvej in Hvalsø. Firefighters arrived quickly but could not save the caravan; by the time police arrived, it was completely burned out, and the fire was under control. A fellow camper noticed smoke and alerted emergency services via 112. No one was inside the caravan at the time of the fire, and the owner was subsequently informed. Police fire investigators will examine the scene to determine the cause.

Bridgestone technician Christian Jensen reminds motorhome owners to regularly check their tires. In Denmark, driving is allowed on public state, municipal, and private common roads, but prohibited on forest roads. Overnight stays on public parking lots are permitted only if no camping activities (such as setting up an awning, table, or chairs) take place. It is recommended to check tire pressure monthly, with a minimum tread depth of 1.6 mm and an optimal depth of 3 mm, and tires should be replaced every 4–5 years.
