The Knudsen family has operated Gammelbro Camping in Aarøsund near Haderslev for 63 years. Now, 32-year-old Jacob Knudsen has become co-owner and daily manager. The campsite, located on the Little Belt strait, was named Denmark's best for the second time (previously in 2019). Jacob Knudsen plans to develop the site while respecting its history.

Fire in a Caravan in Hvalsø

On Wednesday afternoon, police and fire services responded to a fire in a caravan at a campsite on Gundestedvej in Hvalsø. Firefighters arrived quickly but could not save the caravan; by the time police arrived, it was completely burned out, and the fire was under control. A fellow camper noticed smoke and alerted emergency services via 112. No one was inside the caravan at the time of the fire, and the owner was subsequently informed. Police fire investigators will examine the scene to determine the cause.

The rule of thumb every motorhome owner should know

Bridgestone technician Christian Jensen reminds motorhome owners to regularly check their tires. In Denmark, driving is allowed on public state, municipal, and private common roads, but prohibited on forest roads. Overnight stays on public parking lots are permitted only if no camping activities (such as setting up an awning, table, or chairs) take place. It is recommended to check tire pressure monthly, with a minimum tread depth of 1.6 mm and an optimal depth of 3 mm, and tires should be replaced every 4–5 years.

Search for house from Henning Jürgensen's painting: new lead

A viewer tip led to Gammelbro Camping in Aarøsund, where the building depicted in Henning Jürgensen's painting might be located. However, campsite owner Jacob Knudsen and local archivist Eigil Schmidt do not recognize the manor as the painting's subject, citing discrepancies in details such as dunes and a three-wing layout. Schmidt suggests the sought-after house may be on Denmark's west coast, in the Holmsland and Hvide Sande area.

Driving Rules in Denmark

NAF has published a set of rules for motorists, including owners of motorhomes and caravans, planning a trip to Denmark. Since March 2024, trailers with Norwegian Tempo 100 approval are recognized in Denmark, allowing speeds up to 100 km/h on highways. For motorhomes and caravans, the general speed limit is 80 km/h unless otherwise signed.
