The planned motorhome service area in Sommières (Gard) was officially cancelled in April 2026 by the Communauté de communes. The former mayor's project, which included 23 pitches on the old station parking lot, faced strong opposition from local campsite operators. They argued it would create direct competition, noting that 65% of their guests are transit motorhomers and the proposed fee (€14) was lower than campsite rates (around €19).
