South African company Bushwakka has introduced the Kamelback 4 camper conversion based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series Double Cab. Instead of the standard body, an aluminum living module is installed, accommodating four people. Sleeping arrangements are organized in two tiers: a lower bed (155×180 cm) in a slide-out side module and an upper bed (135×180 cm) in a pop-up roof. Other sources describe the lower bed as queen-size and the upper as full-size (53×71 inches), with the cab extended by 500 mm to fit the second bed.
The module includes a kitchen with a gas stove and a 90-liter refrigerator, a 90-liter water tank, hot water system, and an optional external shower cabin. Power comes from lithium batteries (100 Ah), a DC-DC charger, and LED lighting; optional solar panels up to 380 W are available. The module weighs 750 kg.
Pricing varies by source: about 546,924 South African rand (roughly $33,000), about €28,950, or around $33,300–$33,675. All prices exclude the base vehicle. The Toyota Land Cruiser 79 was not sold in the US due to emissions regulations.
