The municipality of Málaga restricted access to a private plot on Camino de la Térmica in the Sacaba area, where a large number of caravans and motorhomes were concentrated. Of the 138 vehicles present last week, only one remained, whose owner was asked to remove it voluntarily.
According to sources, about 60 caravans out of roughly 200 did not leave after the deadline set by the municipality. Residents refuse to leave, claiming they have improved the site and have no alternative housing. Ángel González, 54, who lived there for 14 years, said his motorhome is his only asset and he cannot afford rent due to his low salary as a construction worker.
Mayor Francisco de la Torre stated that the city has long needed a solution for caravan parking and promised to explore the possibility of creating a campsite. Opposition parties PSOE and Con Málaga demand alternative housing and oppose eviction without social support.
