On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, police and tow trucks began the forced removal of caravans and motorhomes from the Sacaba area in Málaga. Authorities cite neighbor complaints and unsanitary conditions, including lack of water, electricity, and sewage. Residents claim the caravans were on private land, not a public road, and that they have no alternative housing. Refusal to leave could lead to criminal prosecution under Article 556.1 of the Criminal Code, with prison sentences of 3 months to 1 year or fines. The operation was paused after residents formed a "human shield."
