In August 2026, the Shinkamuy Mintara campsite opened in Sobetsu, Hokkaido, on a forested site above former vineyards that had been used for wine production. The site covers about 4 hectares and operates off-grid, without mains electricity or water. It offers free pitches for tents and vehicles, including areas with views of Lake Toya, and a tent sauna. The campsite plans to stay open until snow accumulates and to reopen in May next season.
