Bakery couple to pre-open campsite in Otaru

On August 18, Matsue city concluded an agreement with the urban development company Matsukuru to provide trailers free of charge for emergency first aid during major disasters. The trailers, measuring 7.2 by 2.6 meters, are equipped with air conditioning, a toilet, and a washbasin. This is the first such agreement in the city, following the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, which highlighted trailers as a rapid and low-cost solution for temporary facilities.

The Ryokusuiko campground in Nanbu, Tottori Prefecture, which was closed in May 2026 after the bankruptcy of its designated operator, will resume operations on September 4. The town will manage the facility directly. Operations will run until the end of November, limited to four days a week (Friday through Monday) and holidays. The town plans to solicit a new designated operator for fiscal 2027 in the fall.

Japanese tuner Towa Motors Sales has unveiled the Zelt Klima campervan based on the Toyota HiAce, featuring a 12-volt air conditioner that operates without external power. The model includes a lithium-ion battery, C-TEK charging system, and polyethylene foam insulation, ensuring a comfortable cabin temperature even with the engine off. Engine options are a 2.7-liter gasoline (160 hp) and a 2.8-liter diesel turbo (151 hp). It sleeps four and seats seven to eight.

Ogaki City has opened a dedicated overnight parking facility, RV Park, at Kamii Sudzu Green Village Park in the Kamitara district of Kamii Sudzu-cho. The facility, which includes four powered parking spaces, is intended to support outdoor recreation and serve as a refuge during disasters.

Owner B, previously driving a Wide Middle HiAce, converted a Super Long model for comfortable trips with family and two dogs. The van features Trinity hydro suspension that lowers the body to the ground, 20-inch Fabless Profond LD-5 wheels in custom Candy Black, and Minerva 225/35R20 tires. Exterior upgrades include AimGain and Legance body kits, a 415 Cobra hood, blacked-out grille, and Fabless headlights. Inside, Recaro seats, a custom bed kit, center console, armrests, and Alpine monitor and speakers enhance the camping experience.

At the Washikiraisen campsite in Naka-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, an American and a Russian have been appointed as designated managers starting April 2026. John Jacobsen, 60, from Oregon, and Irina Iltskanova, 50, from Russia, won the town's recruitment process. They now handle all operations, including facility maintenance and guest services, and aim to keep the campsite open year-round.
