Italy upgrades camper van areas: Pomarance and Asiago projects

Lorenzo Berti Valobra and Rita Toscano, both 37, have been traveling the world for over a year in a converted Fiat Ducato nicknamed 'Ferruccio'. They started in May 2025, driving through Canada, Alaska, the US, Mexico, and Central America. The couple aims to reach Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) by March 2027, traveling without luxuries and using free parking spots.

The Italian project Kinocaravan – Giovani Visioni Italiane uses a motorhome equipped with a 5-meter screen and projector to screen short films in remote areas. The 2026 tour covers 8 Italian regions, including Lombardy, Lazio, and Sicily, from June to July. The program features 12 works by authors under 35, with each screening followed by a discussion with the directors.

Indel B has introduced the Plein-Aircon 12V air conditioner, which runs directly from a 12V battery without requiring an inverter. The unit is designed for the sleeping area of motorhomes, campervans, and vans up to 6 meters in length. In automatic mode, it lowers the temperature from 32°C to 18.5°C within two hours, consuming 10.5 Ah. Three diffuser options are available: Basic, Lightbox, and Ringlight, with the latter two supporting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for app control.

Campeggi.com has released its 2026 ranking of Italy's best campsites. Trentino-Alto Adige is again the top region, while Abruzzo debuts among the most awarded. Family holidays, including trips with dogs, are the most popular format.

Opposition councilor Sergio D'Aloisio has collected complaints from residents about motorhomes parked for extended periods at the paid parking lot near the Marina degli Aregai port. Residents report that motorhomes occupy spaces intended for locals and tourists and are used for accommodation, despite the lot not being equipped for camping. D'Aloisio called for stricter controls and the use of designated motorhome areas.

Thales Alenia Space Italia, in cooperation with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), is developing the Multi-Purpose Habilitation Module (MPH) for the Moon. The module is 6 meters long, 3 meters in diameter, weighs about 15 tons, and includes sleeping quarters, a kitchen, a toilet, a laboratory, and life support systems. It will be launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center and will be mobile on the lunar surface via wheels. Launch is planned for 2033 as part of the Artemis program.
