The Cantabria government has opened a public consultation on a proposed 27-pitch motorhome stopover on agricultural land in the village of Vieda, in the municipality of Cabezón de Liébana. The site covers more than 6,000 square metres and will be surfaced with gravel and aggregate. The project, submitted by a local resident, was registered with the regional planning commission (CROTU) in February. The facility will allow motorhomes to park, refill water tanks and empty grey and black water; each pitch exceeds 50 square metres and is at least 12 metres long. A separate 30-pitch stopover is being processed in the Oyambre natural park with a 73,000 euro investment, and a tender has been issued for a 27-pitch site in Liérganes worth nearly 600,000 euros.
