Turkey boosts camping and caravan tourism: workshop in Çanakkale, new zone in Gaziantep

The Beypazarı municipality has announced a ban on camping, tent pitching and caravan stays at the Karagöl recreation area until September 30, 2026. The ban is part of forest fire prevention measures adopted by the Bolu governorate, within whose borders the area lies. Picnicking is allowed only between 10:00 and 20:00.

Darende district in Malatya province attracts caravan owners from across Turkey. Visitors explore Somuncu Baba complex, Tohma Canyon, Günpınar Waterfall and Kudret Pool, praising cleanliness and amenities.

Maltepe Municipality, in cooperation with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality police and district security and traffic departments, removed caravans parked outside designated areas along the coast. Vehicles that ignored previous warnings were towed to an impound lot. The operation aims to ensure pedestrian safety and uninterrupted traffic flow. Similar inspections have been carried out since 2024 and will continue.

A 65-year-old man, Yüksel Keskin, who lived alone in a caravan in Kepez district of Antalya, was found dead after a relative grew concerned when unable to reach him. The body was discovered in the evening on a vacant lot on PTT Street in Altınova Düden neighborhood. Police and medical teams responded; the municipal coroner deemed the death suspicious, and the body was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.

In the Kepez district of Antalya, 65-year-old Yüksel Keskin was found dead in the caravan he used as a home. A relative, worried after not hearing from him, discovered the body after noticing a strong smell. The death is considered suspicious, and the body has been sent for forensic examination.
