Safety and Season Preparation
The Dutch fire service recommends checking gas hoses, regulators, electrical wiring, and ventilation ducts of motorhomes, campers, and caravans before the season starts. Special attention should be paid to working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as a fire extinguisher. Fuel tanks and hoses should also be inspected for leaks, especially on boats.
Ahead of summer, three inspection centers in Geel, Rozelaar, and Dendermonde offer free motorhome and caravan checks. Previous inspections found 30% of vehicles were overloaded or improperly loaded. Tire pressure remains a problem.
Market and Exhibitions
From September 12 to 20, the Salone del Camper will be held in Parma, focusing on nature, sports, cycling tourism, and leisure. The Italian recreational vehicle market grew 10.56% in 2025, reaching 7,936 new registrations, nearly 18 times the European average growth of 0.6%. Europe has 6.5 million such vehicles, with about 20 million tourists choosing motorhome and caravan holidays annually.
