On July 7, Málaga local police blocked vehicle access to the Sacaba Beach plot, where about 140 people and 60 vehicles remained after the municipal ultimatum expired. Mayor Francisco de la Torre justified the eviction by stating the beach is a public space, but acknowledged the housing problem and proposed creating a cheap municipal campsite, which faces a lack of available public land. The median rental price in Málaga in 2026 is around €9.55 per square meter (52.8% more expensive than in 2011), and the average 80-square-meter home costs over €300,000. Registrations of motorhomes, campers and caravans rose from 2,400 in 2015 to 7,100 in 2025, with a growing share of buyers using them as permanent housing.
