Holiday park near St Asaph in North Wales invests in clean energy

Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth has applied to extend its operating season from February 1 to January 14 to accommodate guests during the February half-term. Currently, the park opens on February 28 and closes in November, except for selected festive breaks. Owner Haven Leisure says the extension would protect jobs and boost the local economy, while also reducing seasonal inequality in tourism investment.

Operations manager Stephen Brown says South West Water ignored complaints for five years. The utility attributes the smell to temporary works at Timaru Sewage Treatment Works and suggests it may originate from a private sewer network.

Camper Calling returned to Ragley Hall near Alcester for its 10th anniversary over the weekend, featuring live music, food, drink, and family entertainment. Acts included Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Sigala, Five, James Morrison, Primal Scream, Shed Seven, and Maxïmo Park. Despite rain and mud, attendees danced through the performances. The next edition is scheduled for August 27–29.

Karen and Myles Davies from the village of Milverton have lived in a 7.5-meter motorhome named Scoobie for ten years, covering about 177,000 kilometers across 30 countries. Renting a house used to cost them over 1,550 euros per month, while their current living expenses, including fuel and food, range between 1,750 and 2,350 euros per month. The couple started their journey in 2016 as a year-long experiment, but after five weeks Karen said she did not want to go back. They earn income through investments, rental property, writing, and yoga teaching, and continue to pay taxes.

VannyCampers, a UK-based company, has unveiled Verity, a four-person campervan built on a 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a 144-inch wheelbase. The vehicle features two sleeping areas (one in a pop-top roof), a kitchen with an induction cooktop and refrigerator, a composting toilet, and an off-grid electrical system with a 300Ah LiFePO4 battery and 450W of solar panels, providing up to four days of autonomy. Verity will be given away as part of a competition run by VannyCampers.
