Rise of caravan tourism in Turkey: interview with campsite owner

The Beypazarı municipality has announced a ban on camping, tent pitching and caravan stays at the Karagöl recreation area until September 30, 2026. The ban is part of forest fire prevention measures adopted by the Bolu governorate, within whose borders the area lies. Picnicking is allowed only between 10:00 and 20:00.

The Izmir Camping and Caravan Association has called on authorities to establish safe, well-equipped and environmentally friendly caravan parks and campsites in the city. It cited caravan-friendly camping areas in Tunceli Ovacik, created by Governor Şefik Aygöl, as an example. The association expressed readiness to cooperate for the sustainable development of caravan tourism in Izmir.

Darende district in Malatya province attracts caravan owners from across Turkey. Visitors explore Somuncu Baba complex, Tohma Canyon, Günpınar Waterfall and Kudret Pool, praising cleanliness and amenities.

Maltepe municipality, with police and traffic units, removes illegally parked caravans from the coast. Inspections have been held since 2024 and will continue through 2025-2026.

Özgür Reisoğlu converted a caravan into a barbershop and serves clients on the coast in Hopa. The service is in demand, with plans to work across Turkey.

Turkish firm Ortsan Outdoor has launched the Mini House, a 4-meter-long, 2.1-meter-wide travel trailer that expands its floor area from 8.4 to 20.3–20.4 square meters via a lateral accordion-like system. When folded, the trailer measures 7 by 2.1 meters. The interior includes a separate bedroom, a kitchen with a 90-liter fridge and two gas burners, a bathroom with shower, a living-dining area, and a covered terrace. It comes with a 470 W solar panel, a 200 Ah lithium battery, a 200-liter fresh water tank, heating, air conditioning, and a smart home system controlled via tablet. Prices range from €16,700 to €20,000 depending on configuration. Production is made to order with customization options.
