Camping-Check Episode 17: East Frisia – New Campsites by the North Sea

German retailer Lidl has presented a set of 10 products for basic car camping conversion. The list includes the Juskys Lago roof tent at €959, a Crivit air mattress at €12.99, a Tronic 100 W foldable solar charger at €199, a 24 L Crivit electric cooler at €69.99, a Crivit gas camping stove at €9.99, an Easy Camp Lom Tri Canopy awning measuring 500×250 cm at €94.99, a Greemotion camping organiser from €62.99, a Crivit camping table at €19.99, a Crivit folding chair from €34.99, and a Paladin pop-up tent at €36.99. With current discounts in the Lidl online shop as of September 2026, the total cost of the set is €1,500.92, though it includes only one camping chair. For two people, the budget may increase depending on whether they already own sleeping bags and what additional kitchen, hygiene, water and power accessories they require.

At the 58th ADAC classic car rally 'Rund um den Rochlitzer Berg' on Saturday in Rochlitz, a new trailer is presented. Lukas Heinig from Rochlitz restored a Qek Aero and will tow it with his 1986 Wartburg 353. The Wohnwagen is on display at the market square.

Bad Laer is considering raising the overnight fee at its motorhome site from 11.75 euros back to 21 euros after the town's 1175th anniversary year ends. The local newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung opposes the increase.

In Sasbach, owner Amelie Steurer converted a decommissioned ambulance into a camper. The orange foil was kept, heavy equipment removed, and a bed, cabinets and space for dogs were installed. The first trip in the camper was to Poland, including the Baltic Sea.

ADAC Hessen-Thüringen e.V. has issued guidance for families planning camping trips during the autumn school holidays. When choosing a motorhome, the number of approved seats is key, especially for families with more than two children, as many models offer only two rear seats. For accommodation, family-friendly campsites with playgrounds, fenced pools and laundry facilities are recommended. When packing, the maximum permissible weight stated in the vehicle registration document must be observed. Children under twelve or shorter than 150 cm require a suitable child seat mounted on a forward-facing seat. ADAC suggests using the PiNCAMP portal to filter suitable campsites.

A campsite on the island of Fehmarn, located by the South Beach, has taken first place in several rankings by German camping portals for 2026. It offers sea views, a Finnish sauna and infrastructure that has received multiple awards. The island reportedly outperformed popular destinations such as Rügen and the North Sea coast.
